Freddy, the zombie chef in the Extreme Medical Services series, sent me this great recipe for pumpkin muffins he makes for the Station U crews on the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday shifts. He says it’s the perfect bite in mini-muffin size and great for a crew on-the-go. Check out the recipe below and enjoy. How Often Do You Get To Be A Hero?

It’s a serious question. Even during my career as a paramedic, truly heroic action moments were few and far between. Well, not today! Today you CAN be a hero. Today you have a chance to keep an 80-year-old grandmother from getting kicked out of her house. You get to become one of the Hellcats trying to save her family home, the only home she’s ever known. What’s it take to be a Hellcat? It’s simple. Pick up a copy of the Hellcats Anthology, or read it in Kindle Unlimited. Inside are sixty-nine (yes, 69) short stories by some amazing authors from a variety of genres, all writing stories about what being a Hellcat means to them. Each story is found nowhere else but this anthology. I wrote an exclusive short story from the Extreme Medical Services world. If features Leah Read more…

Dealing With Life In A Pandemic World

Hi, Dealing with the rules of a new world under the shadow of the pandemic is challenging for a lot of folks. We’ve been trying to adjust here in my house, too. I’ve been writing about it here in the newsletter. Thanks to all of you for sharing your movie and book choices for me to share with my grandson someday when he gets older. By far the most popular suggestion was “The Princess Bride” book and movie. I Totally Agree! For those of you who’ve read the Accidental Champion series, you know how I give a nod to that movie when Cari Dix takes over a ship of raiders and calls herself the “Dread Raider Cari.” I like writing references to my favorite books and movies into my stories. I think it’s fun to see how many folks pick Read more…

Huntress Adept is the fifth book in the Huntress Clan Saga. I hope to have that out for release on July 8th. Fingers crossed for that. I’m also prepping for getting into Book 6 in that series. What Makes A Book LitRPG or GameLit?

One of the biggest questions I get is, “What makes a fantasy book a LitRPG book?” A close second is, “What’s the difference between LitRPG and GameLit?” For me it’s all in the stats. GameLit is a broader category that encompasses anything that has to do with gaming and a fantasy world. LitRPG is a subset of GameLit that includes some level of statistics and leveling up a character or characters. I write books that fall into both categories. The two Accidental Trilogies (Accidental Traveler and Accidental Champion) both are full-on LitRPG stories. My most recent series is an urban fantasy that fits into the GameLit area. The Huntress Clan Saga has strong elements of Virtual Reality Gaming and that VR world has consequences in the real world for the main character, Quinn Faust. There are no stats or leveling Read more…
