Hi reader,

 

I’ve written ten books in the Extreme Medical Services series. Ten books of Dean Flynn figuring out Elk City, getting better at his job, building a life in a world most people don’t know exists.

 

Book 11 is the one where that life gets threatened.

 

There’s something different about writing a story where the danger isn’t external anymore. Where the enemy doesn’t show up at the call scene or come through the ER doors. Where the threat finds your family’s safe space first — quietly, through a glittering light that a three-year-old thought was her friend.

 

Writing Dean’s reaction to that is the way he tries to stay calm for Jaz while quietly being anything but  that’s the scene I’ve been building toward since the moment I decided he was going to become a father.

 

I hope you feel what I was feeling when I wrote it.
